Display Design / Brand Launch
Nike
A skeletal icosahedron display designed for the launch party of Nike's Koston3 Hyperfeel skateboarding shoe - making the shoes appear to float within a futuristic geometric form.
01 - The Brief
A Shoe That Floats
For the launch party of the Koston3 Hyperfeel - a skateboarding shoe built around the idea of pure board feel - Nike wanted a display that communicated the shoe's futuristic, minimal ethos. The shoe needed to appear suspended, floating within a form that felt both architectural and otherworldly.
The display also needed to be versatile: deployable hanging from a cable, mounted on a mirrored pedestal, or placed on a plate for tabletop settings.
02 - Design & Engineering
Geometry as Display
The icosahedron - a 20-faced polyhedron - was chosen for its visual complexity and skeletal elegance. When reduced to its edges alone, it creates a cage-like form that frames the shoe from every angle without obstructing the view. The geometry gives the shoe a sense of levitation, as if it exists within its own micro-environment.
The engineering challenge was precision: every strut and vertex had to align perfectly to maintain the icosahedral symmetry, while the mounting system needed to accommodate three distinct display configurations.
03 - The Result
Three Ways to Display
The final display can hang from a cable for dramatic overhead installations, mount to a mirrored pedestal for floor-standing impact, or sit on a flat plate for tabletop presentation. Each mounting option preserves the floating effect while adapting to different venue requirements.
